Dr Dabeek, Director of the Urban Planning Centre for Disaster Risk Reduction and Projects Coordinator, participated in a workshop to present the Empowering Trans-Mediterranean Renewable Energy Research Alliance for Europe 2020 Challenges (ETRERA_2020) Info Day in Palestine.
The workshop aimed at highlighting the idea of this project, “ETRERA_2020” in order to engage the local key stakeholders (enterprises, research organisations and local authorities), to build networking around the project, communicate ETRERA_2020. The workshop highlighted the opportunities to be seized by enterprises and research centres and the main services offered. It also sought to increase the participation in the next round of activities, to pave the ground for the ETRERA_2020 meta-cluster.
Dr Dabeek gave an introduction to the SASPARM-FP7 project, where he highlighted the project objectives and participating parties. He also pointed out the project achievements, especially the capacity building workshops for youth engineers, workshops for media students, in addition to a number of public lectures and workshops. He also referred to the other articles, materials, publications and posters produced during the project.
1. ETRERA_2020 is a project aimed at facing the future energy needs in the Euro–Mediterranean area by reinforcing and creating a collaborative research/innovation network for supporting renewable energy sources (RES) technologies development and application.
2. The Support Action for Strengthening Palestinian-administered Areas capabilities for Seismic Risk Mitigation (SASPARM) Project aims to educate and spread awareness on earthquakes’ risks and mechanism for maintaining public safety of citizens.
3. The Project is sponsored by the EU within the FP7 projects and in partnership with the European Centre for Seismic Engineering and IUSS University Pavia, Italy.
